ABB pressurized motors and generators meet all national and international standards and requirements –including IEC, European (EN), ATEX  and NEMA. All fulfill demanding process applications, onshore or offshore, oil and gas pipelines, refineries and petrochemical plants, floating production storage and offloading oil platforms,  liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants. The motors can operate in harsh environments such as explosive atmospheres, extreme temperatures, corrosive dust or humidity.

The protection of the Ex px or Ex pz machine is mainly based on the pressured and purged enclosure. The enclosure shall be over pressured all the time during operation. The overpressure must be at least 50 Pa for Ex px machines and 25 Pa for Ex pz, and if it falls under the trip limit the electric supply shall be automatically switched off.

The mechanical design of an Ex px and Ex pz machine must meet the requirements of the applied standard. The aim of mechanical design is to prevent arcs, sparks and hot surfaces to come in contact with the hazardous are.

 Flameproof motors - ABB

ABB offers full range of low and high voltage flameproof motors, from 0.55 to 4500 kW.

Certified according to IECEx System, ATEX Directives and according to many other local regulations.
Full range of IE2 low voltage flameproof motors.
Flameproof motors are designed to withstand any damage the pressure caused by an internal explosion and are also able to prevent flame propagation outside.
